One of two Levin stage plays adapted as full-length television movies (the other being Footsteps), Dr. Cook's Garden aired in 1971 as an ABC Movie of the Week.
Dr. Cook's Garden was the first major work Levin wrote after Rosemary's Baby, and Paramount – who had produced the latter's 1968 film adaptation – made sure to snap up the screen rights to Levin's new play in advance of its Broadway opening.
